【現地の説明板より抜粋】開業は明治45年6月。この駅舎は大正13年に改築されたもの。宮殿風造りのこの駅舎は全国でも珍しい神社様式を取り入れた木造建築です。この大社駅は平成2年3月のJR大社線の廃止とともに駅としての使命を終えました。しかし建築の素晴らしさと長い間町民とともに生きてきたこの駅舎の姿を残し、町民のためにまた、この町を訪れるすべての人のために往時のままで保存活用しています。#ポツンと駅舎
The Taisha station was opened in June，the 45th year of Meiji. However the present structure was remodeled in the 13th year of Taisho.This palatial station was built adopting the style of a shrine，and it is quite unusual for a station in Japan，with respect to its dignified wooden structure. To the regret of the townspeople，this station finished its duty in 1990 with the cessation of the JR. Taisha Line. However，the townspeople strongly wished to leave this structure as a part of the town. So that this station will remain as it is，and that it will be used for the townspeople and visitors.
